<span style='color:#780948'>ARCHIVED</span> - Two earthquakes registered 15 minutes apart in Lorca and Calasparra

The National Geographic Institute (IGN) recorded two earthquakes on Thursday February 17 in the Region of Murcia that occurred just 15 minutes apart, one in Lorca and the other in Calasparra.

At 3.17pm, an earthquake measuring 2.1 on the Richter scale surprised the residents of Lorca. According to the experts, the quake’s epicentre was located east of the Torrecilla district of Lorca, near Puente Pasico.

Moments later, a second earthquake hit the northwest of Calasparra at 3.32pm.

The depth of both earthquakes was measured at three kilometres.

Last month, a 2.3 magnitude earthquake was registered near the Tajo Segura canal in Lorca, the second Murcia tremor to be recorded in the space of seven days.
