Temporary closure of Calle Gisbert in Cartagena this Saturday

Drivers are advised to use alternative routes during the disruption

Calle Gisbert, a vital artery in central Cartagena, will be closed to traffic on Saturday January 18, from 7am to 3pm. The closure is due to works by the water concessionaire Hidrogea, which will extend the drinking water network supplying Parque Torres.

The traffic restriction will affect the stretch near the junction with Calle Duque up to the access to the underground car park.

Despite the closure, vehicles can exit the car park towards the port and the Batel via the José Hierro boulevard, which will also serve as the entry route.

Drivers approaching Calle Gisbert from Calle Caridad and Plaza de Risueño will need to divert through alternative routes. The recommended route is via Calle San Diego, allowing access to the port through Puertas de San José and Cuesta del Batel.

Another option is to reach the port via the Muralla del Mar by turning towards the old town.

Public transport will also be affected, as the route for line 8 of the Icuebus will change during the closure. The detour will slightly lengthen travel times, and the stop at Plaza de La Merced (El Lago) will be temporarily cancelled.

The city council has advised residents and visitors to plan their journeys accordingly and follow posted detour signs to minimise inconvenience.
