Transport company Movibus has launched the second phase of its expansion with new routes from Cartagena to Águilas and Mazarrón for the first time ever. Announcing the development, the General Director of Mobility and Coast, Marina Munuera, said that the project aims to better connect the coastal municipality "by establishing direct bus services for the first time with the municipalities of Águilas, Lorca and Mazarrón."

The route will especially benefit the numerous students who travel to the Polytechnic University from Lorca – with up to 24 weekly trips, these pupils will now be able to get to school in half the time.

"Cartagena will be better connected with the different municipalities to make it easier for students to choose public transport to go to the University instead of the private car,” she added.

In its first phase, Movibus started direct bus services from Fuente Álamo and Torre Pacheco and services to La Manga were increased throughout the year. The route connecting Cartagena with La Unión, Cabo de Palos and La Manga was also improved.

In this second phase, more routes are also planned between Murcia and Cartagena to run every hour.
