Los Alcázares tackles dangerous 'black spot' with new bike lane to San Javier
The town is investing €217,000 in a bike lane that will make part of the RM-F34 safer and link Los Alcázares to San Javier

Los Alcázares is moving ahead with plans for a new bicycle lane that will link the town with neighbouring San Javier. The €217,000 project will cover one of the most dangerous sections of the RM-F34 road.
The bike lane will be around 300 metres long and will include lighting, as well as all the necessary road signs and markings to make it safe for cyclists.
Mayor Mario Pérez Cervera said, “We were really keen to announce this because it deals with one of the black spots in our town. This new cycle lane will make getting around safer and help make Los Alcázares a place where people can travel safely and sustainably.”

The project forms part of the ‘El mar que conecta’ (The sea that connects) programme, which is part of the town’s 2025–2027 Tourism Marketing Plan under the slogan ‘A sea open in every season’. It will create a sustainable travel link between Los Alcázares and nearby areas such as San Javier and Cartagena.
Mayor Cervera added, “We’re working to make Los Alcázares better connected and more accessible, offering safe and sustainable transport options for residents and visitors.”
The new bike lane is funded by the EU’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and managed locally by Los Alcázares Town Hall.
