Cartagena set for a busy fortnight as 11 cruise ships bring more than 22,000 passengers
Major ships including Sky Princess Britannia Queen Anne and Norwegian Sky will call at Cartagena between August 16 and 29

Cartagena is in for a particularly busy couple of weeks, with 11 cruise ships scheduled to call at the port between Sunday August 16 and Saturday August 29.
Together, the ships have a combined capacity of more than 22,500 passengers, although the actual number coming ashore will depend on how many passengers disembark at each stop.
The cruise rush got underway on Sunday August 16, when the 4,610-passenger Sky Princess arrived in Cartagena. The Princess Cruises ship is scheduled to be in port until 4pm.
Things step up again on Tuesday August 18, when two cruise ships will be in port at the same time. The Silver Ray will arrive at 8am with up to 728 passengers and remain until 6pm, while the Crystal Serenity, carrying up to 740 passengers, will be docked from 9am until 11pm.
The next arrival will be the Nautica on Saturday August 22, followed by P&O Cruises' Aurora the following day. The latter can carry up to 1,874 passengers and is due to remain in Cartagena from 8am until 6pm.
One of the biggest ships of the fortnight will then arrive on Monday August 24. P&O Cruises' Britannia can accommodate up to 3,647 passengers and will be in port from 8am until 5pm.
The port will be particularly busy on Tuesday August 25, when two large ships are scheduled to arrive. Cunard's Queen Anne, with capacity for 3,000 passengers, will be in Cartagena from 8am until 4pm, while Oceania Cruises' Allura, carrying up to 1,469 passengers, will remain from 8am until 5pm.
Another double cruise call is planned for Thursday August 27. The Silver Muse will arrive at 9am with capacity for 596 passengers, alongside AIDA Cruises' Aidastella, which can carry up to 2,700 people.
The busy schedule will finish on Saturday August 29 with Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Sky. The ship, which has capacity for 2,405 passengers, is due to arrive at 10am and leave at 6pm.
The concentration of cruise visits will be particularly noticeable between August 23 and 27, when seven ships are scheduled to call at Cartagena, representing more than 13,800 passengers at full capacity.
The programme also includes a mix of large mainstream cruise ships alongside premium and luxury operators such as Silversea, Crystal Cruises and Oceania Cruises, highlighting Cartagena's growing role on Mediterranean cruise itineraries.
