WATCH! English driver rescued after getting trapped in San Miguel de Salinas citrus grove
Local Police and Guardia Civil officers teamed up to assist the woman who was found disoriented in Los Alcores
An English-speaking driver was rescued on the afternoon of Saturday June 27 after becoming disoriented and trapped in her car at Los Alcores, a citrus grove in the municipality of San Miguel de Salinas.
The San Miguel de Salinas Local Police, working alongside the Jacarilla Guardia Civil, managed to locate her with the help of a police drone.
The alarm was raised at around 3pm, when the Local Police received a call from the 112 emergency line reporting that an English-speaking driver had become disoriented and was stuck somewhere within an unspecified citrus farm.
According to the Local Police, communicating with the woman proved difficult, and the geolocation data available only narrowed her location down to the entire municipal area rather than a specific spot.
With such a wide area to cover, officers from San Miguel de Salinas Local Police and the Jacarilla Guardia Civil launched a search using a drone from the Police Air Unit, scanning roads, tracks and farmland in the hope of spotting her vehicle.
After a two-hour search, the team finally located the car at around 5pm. The driver was found to be in perfect health, bringing the operation to a safe and successful end.
