Two men have been arrested in Elche after allegedly beating three other men in a violent attack that left two people dead and another seriously injured.

 

The arrests were made around midday on Tuesday December 23 after the suspects had barricaded themselves inside a house in the Marina de Elche residential area.

 

The Guardia Civil surrounded the property and brought the situation to an end following several hours of negotiation.

 

According to police information, the incident began at around 6pm on Monday 22. The two arrested men, who are Polish nationals, are accused of attacking three men of German origin inside a house located in an isolated area.

 

Two of the victims later died from their injuries, while the third was taken to hospital in Alicante, where he remains in a serious condition.

 

After the attack, the suspects stayed inside the house and refused to come out. Civil Guard officers sealed off the area and used a Polish interpreter to communicate with the men and persuade them to surrender. The arrests were finally made at around 2pm on Tuesday.

 

Police sources have confirmed that both suspects have previous criminal records. Investigators have ruled out the possibility that the incident was linked to a settling of scores, although inquiries are still ongoing to establish what led to the violence. There is also no indication that any firearms were used.
