Six further bars have also been denounced for not enforcing hygiene measures
On Friday the Local Police of Totana has suspended the activity of two bars in the town, closing them down for reasons of health, hygiene and safety, and as a preventive measure during the COVID-19 crisis, as they are viewed as “likely to cause a risk or serious damage to the health of the population” due to continued infractions of the Covid regulations.
Local Police say that bar owners and clients had violated Decree-Law 8/2020, of 16th of July on several occasions and ignored warnings from officers.
Denuncias have also been drawn up against 6 other establishments in the town, which in case of repetition of the complaints, if the warnings of the agents are ignored, or if further serious infractions that pose a risk of contagion are repeated, they will also be closed.Social media users on the town hall social media profile applauded the closures, saying that the bars had been denounced multiple times by locals and repeatedly allowed clients to breach hygiene measures. Others complained that the police should be closing a lot more bars down and it might send a stronger message to other bars.
Case numbers in Totana have been creeping back up again recently; today the municipality notified a further 20 new cases and has reported 98 cases in the last 7 days.
