Torrevieja puticlub to be transformed into luxury hotel
Former Torrevieja brothel is getting a third lease of life
The infamous Torrevieja brothel Eden Roc is to be renovated and turned back into a hotel. The legendary establishment was opened as an exclusive hotel in the 60s and later turned into a well-known brothel, or ‘puticlub’, for the whole of Vega Baja.
After many years the establishment will be returned to its former glory as a luxury hotel. The town hall confirms that planning permission has been granted to use the building as a hotel, which is located in a privileged location with a direct view of the Mediterranean Sea between the bays of El Mojón and La Zorra.
The building has been abandoned since 2013, when it closed for good. Since then, the decay has been severe. On the edge of the road connecting Torrevieja and La Mata by the sea, it has been subject to several assaults and vandalism, until a French company took over the property in 2019.
The company, Environnement Service Informatique, is an IT products company with a view to diversifying its portfolio by entering the hotel sector. In 2021, they already sent workers to the site, where they removed a lot of household items and garbage that had accumulated over the years. They also fenced off the plot to prevent intrusion by outsiders.
The company’s plan is to convert the building into an exclusive hotel, and regain the lustre it had exhibited back in the 1960s. The Plot has a space for around thirty rooms. The plan of the new owners was to construct the facade and build a swimming pool, but any type of work in this enclave involves a tangle of administrative procedures and, above all, red tape with Costas, as it is built on land affected by the Coastal Act.
The hotel is not subject to demolition, as it was built long before the law came into effect, like many other villas and apartments built during the last century in the area of the bays of Torrevieja
