ARCHIVED - Spanish vaccination programme gathers momentum; almost 130,000 doses administered over the weekend
The regional health services have administered 78.5 per cent of all doses received so far
When the mass coronavirus vaccination campaign began in Spain last month there was some concern over the slow start to the inoculation program, but it now appears that the effort is gaining momentum and over the weekend the Ministry of Health reports that a further 128,992 doses were administered.
These include the second doses given to 2,315 patients and the first 5,809 doses of the Moderna vaccine, which has now joined the Pfizer vaccine in the armoury of the health services.
The 897,942 doses administered now represent 78.5 per cent of all of those received by Spain, with the country having taken delivery of 1,107,600 doses of the Pfizer product and 35,700 from Moderna.
