Sonrisas Harmony are an all-ladies A cappella Chorus based in Los Alcázares, Murcia

In September 2022, fifteen ladies living in the Region of Murcia who loved to sing got together to form a social club, and Sonrisas Harmony was born. Since then, this all-ladies A cappella Chorus has gone from strength to strength, and has grown to over 30 members from a variety of different countries.

The Musical Director of Sonrisas is Valerie Lynch from the USA, who graduated from the Crane School of Music in New York with a Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education, going on to receive a Masters Degree from The University of Texas.

Valerie has been a vocal coach and adjudicator in a variety of music genres and has toured for over 20 years singing as a guest artist with various symphony and chamber orchestras across the USA. Now settled in Spain, Valerie is the proud MD of Sonrisas Harmony.

Sonrisas Harmony have performed in the opening show of one of the biggest A cappella contests in Europe, the Spanish Barbershop Convention 2023 in April of that year, the first time a non-barbershop chorus had taken part.

They also do concerts at various venues around Los Alcázares, San Javier and elsewhere in Murcia, and they normally draw pack-out audiences with standing room only!

What kind of music do Sonrisas sing?

The music that Sonrisas Harmony perform is contemporary, four-part harmony A cappella. In layman’s terms, that simply means singing without the accompaniment of instruments, in four parts: lead, baritone, bass and tenor. The songs they perform are mostly modern, with some classics thrown in as well.

You can book the ladies to sing at your event, and they always welcome new members.

Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 10.30am to 1.30pm. No previous singing knowledge is required and you are never asked to sing on your own. All you need is a love of singing and a desire to have fun. The ladies even have social afternoons and away days.
