October 26 Free workshop on rescuing feral cats in Mazarrón
The three-part course is aimed at volunteers and organisations dedicated to improving the welfare of Mazarrón’s feline colonies
Are you passionate about animal welfare and dedicated to caring for the feline colonies in Mazarrón? Do you want to take your skills to the next level and make a real difference in the lives of these often neglected animals?
If so, mark your calendars for Saturday October 26, and get ready to join the ‘Capture Workshop by Los Cuatro de la Empanadilla’ at the Auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura de Mazarrón.
This exciting and informative workshop is specifically designed for volunteers and administrative staff involved in feline welfare and care, and promises to deliver expert training in the CER (Capture, Sterilisation, Return) method and advanced cat rescue techniques.
Led by the renowned Madrid group ‘Los Cuatro de la Empanadilla’, who are specialists in rescuing cats, especially those considered wild and difficult to capture, this workshop is a unique opportunity to learn from the best.
The workshop is not just about learning new skills - it's also about collaboration and community. By bringing together like-minded individuals and organisations, the Town Council believes everyone can work together to create a more effective and humane approach to managing Mazarrón's feline colonies.
The workshop runs from 10am to 2pm and will be divided into three essential parts:
- Introduction and Collaboration (1.5 hours): Get up to speed on the latest developments in animal welfare, including the new Animal Welfare Law, and learn how to plan and organise effective captures.
- CER Core Material (1.5 hours): Discover the different types of trap cages and how to use them in challenging contexts, such as rooftops or sewers.
- Special Case Rescues (1 hour): Learn how to intervene in rescues in cars, trees, roofs, sewers and vertical pipes, and gain the knowledge and tools you need to tackle even the toughest cases.
Participation in the workshop is completely free, but spaces are limited, so be sure to register in advance by calling 646767228.
