November 3 Free guided hike in the Sierra de las Moreras and the coves of Bolnuevo
A testing 7.2-kilometre hike along the wild and unspoilt coastline of Bolnuevo
This guided walk takes place close to Bolnuevo, where the built-up area of Puerto de Mazarrón gives way to the unspoilt, rugged Mediterranean coastline and a series of secluded coves below the steep cliffs.
It begins on the southern slopes of Sierra de las Moreras before reaching Cala Leño via the Rambla de la Paridera and then continues to other small beaches such as Cueva Lobos, Cala Amarilla and Playa del Hondón. A well-deserved 20-minute rest and perhaps a dip in the sea follow!
In total the distance covered is around 7.2 kilometres and the route is classified as being of medium difficulty, with 250 metres of climbs and descents. It is scheduled to take approximately 3 hours and walkers are advised that Nordic walking poles are appropriate.
The hike begins at 9.00 and registration is available online here or through the tourist office in Puerto de Mazarrón (telephone 968 594426, email oficinaturismomazarron@gmail.com). The registration period opens a week before the event and ends at 13.30 the day prior to it taking place. The starting pont will be communicated to participants after registration.
The wearing of facemasks, caps and sun cream is strongly recommended and participants should bring drinking water and wear appropriate footwear. Those registering must give ID details, and under no circumstances may people join without prior registration.
