Mojácar honours the Virgen del Rosario with two days of festivities
A horseback ribbon race and a procession headline the October programme

Mojácar is gearing up for its festivities in honour of the Virgen del Rosario, with two days of tradition, devotion, music and culture planned for Saturday October 10 and Sunday October 11.
The programme gets under way on Saturday at 11.30am with an anniversary celebration for the Marquita La Posá Association at the Marquita La Posá Cave. Later in the day, at 6pm, riders take to their horses for the traditional ribbon race at La Fuente, with the Mojácar Municipal Band providing the music.
Sunday is the main day of the celebrations, beginning with a Mass in honour of the Virgen del Rosario at 11am. The procession follows at midday, again accompanied by the Municipal Band, and sets off from La Fuente.
At 2pm the Multipurpose Centre will host a tribute and awards ceremony, before the festivities come to a close at 8pm with a performance of the Zarzuela “The Barber of Seville” by the Andalusian Lyric Theatre, also at the Multipurpose Centre. Tickets for the show cost €10.
The council has encouraged residents and visitors to join in the celebrations, and the full schedule is available on the official poster.
