Click HereThe return to work after the long holiday weekend began with a fright for some residents of Águilas in the south-west of Murcia on Monday morning, when a minor earthquake measuring 2.2 mbLg was recorded at 8.04.
The epicentre of the tremor was only a kilometres beneath the Earth’s crust and although some people felt it no damage was reported.
It should be remembered that the friction between tectonic plates in south-eastern Spain makes occurrences such as this far more frequent than in northern Europe, particularly along the Alhama fault line, and that while the intensity of the tremors is at this low level there is no cause for alarm.
