ARCHIVED - Mayor assures that train service will return to Aguilas bigger and better
When the rail service resumes, there will be more trains and more destinations from Águilas
Refurbishments and improvements to the railway network in Murcia are well underway, and have meant disruption for many as bus replacement services make journeys longer and more difficult.
In the midst of this, there have been welcome words form the Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, who has assured that people living in the town “should have no doubt that this Government Team has not stopped fighting, nor will it stop fighting for the railway infrastructure of this municipality to be the best.”
She added: “The Town Council of Águilas has not stopped working, hand in hand with ADIF [railway infrastructure company], to offer Águilas a 21st-century train that is modern and safe, because this is what the people of Águilas deserve.”
Mayor Moreno advanced that they are already working to guarantee that when the railway resumes activity, it will do so with a considerable increase in the frequency of trains that stop at Águilas station and also in the number lines. She also announced the introduction of a shuttle service to connect the town in the shortest time possible with the AVE high-speed train station in nearby Pulpí, in Almeria.
“We are convinced that the very important investment that the Spanish Government is making in the railway structures of our town will favour the development of our municipality, turning it into a modern city perfectly connected with the outside world,” she concluded.
