Lorca Symphony Orchestra is back with a unique musical show for all ages

March 23 Marvel and Disney classical music concert in Lorca

Music and film lovers are in for a real treat as Lorca Symphony Orchestra is back with its second show of 2025. On Sunday March 23 at 12 noon, the Margarita Lozano Auditorium will host ‘Symphony of the Infinite: Heroes and Adventures’, a unique concert that will take you on an epic journey through the most exciting stories of music, cinema and real life.

The concert was announced by Councillor for Culture Santiago Parra, along with the orchestra's director, Ginés Martínez and president Antonio Meca.

Mr Parra invited everyone to join in on the fun: “This is a unique show with a programme composed of songs from Marvel and Disney titles.”

The orchestra, made up of 50 professional and amateur musicians from the municipality and the Narciso Yepes Conservatory, will perform under the baton of Ginés Martínez.

The programme will feature well-known melodies from distant galaxies to fantastic kingdoms, including music from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Game of Thrones, Marvel, Superman, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Aladdin and many more.

But the adventure doesn't stop at the music. The organisers invite attendees to come dressed up as their favourite heroes and join in on the fun.

As Mr Meca pointed out, “the idea is for the attendees to be part of the story, turning the concert into a true celebration of epic and imagination.”

In addition to the main concert, the orchestra will also be performing for more than 1,500 students from different secondary education centres on Friday March 21, at 10am and 12pm. This special event is designed to bring symphonic music closer to the students of the municipality in a dynamic and engaging format.

Tickets for the concert are now on sale and can be purchased online through Bacantix.com and the auditorium's website https://auditoriomargaritalozano.es/ or in person at the box office of the Teatro Guerra and the auditorium on the day of the event.

The price is just 15 euros and it's an event you won't want to miss.

The rich and extensive history of Lorca has left a legacy of archaeological sites, and historic buildings, around which the modern City has built its tourism industry. Amongst these are Lorca Castle, the Jewish Quarter of the castle and Synagogue, Lorca Tourist Office Plaza de España, Colegiata de San Patricio, Museo de Arqueologico Municipal, Iglesia de San Francisco, Casa Huerto Ruano, Palacio de Guevara, Iglesia de San Mateo, Pósito de los Panaderos, Convento Virgen de las Huertas, Antiguo Convento de la Merced, Iglesia del Carmen and the Teatro Guerra.

Unfortunately Lorca has also been prone to natural disaster, suffering a Gota Fría on September 28th 2012, as well as an earthquake which measured 5.3 on the Richter scale on 11th May 2011 and claimed 9 lives. Since this earthquake the city has been rebuilding, winning recognition for its Lorca, Open for Restoration initiative, which used the restoration of the city as a tourist attraction whilst it rebuilt its historical buildings, some of which are currently still not open.

Lorca Tourist Office The tourist office itself has temporarily relocated until the renovations are completed and is on Calle San Patricio near the church.

Lorca also has an area of coastline incorporating the Parque Regional de Cabo Cope - Puntas de Calnegre, in the Sierra de Almenara, which includes the beaches of, Puntas de Calnegre, Baño de las Mujeres, San Lorca Tourist Office Pedro, El Siscal, Cala Honda, Cuartel del Ciscar, Junquera, Cala de la Gruta, Cala Leña, Los Hierros, Cala Blanca and Playa Larga, although many are accessible only through agricultural exploitations.

However, in spite of its many attractions, the name of Lorca is synonymous with Easter, (Semana Santa) its biblical parades of International Tourist Interest status and famous throughout Spain. The week includes a Lorca Tourist Office series of parades in which the whites (Paso Blanco) and blues (Paso Azúl) try to outdo each other with the magnificence of their embroideries and the skill and daring of their horsemen.
