Is it really possible to do your tax returns in Spain yourself?
Yes, you can do your Spanish tax declaration online… but it’s not the easiest way
Taxpayers in Spain have until July 1, 2024 to file their income tax returns – the Impuesto sobre la Renta de Personas Físicas or IRPF for short.

The process to start filing tax declarations with the Hacienda tax office online in Spain begins on Tuesday April 3, 2024.

To do your Spanish tax declaration, first you need to know when each way of doing the tax returns can be completed.
It is possible to declare your income in Spain for the year 2023 in person, by phone or online, and each one has a different window in which you can do it.

- April 3-July 1: Income tax returns can be filed online
- May 7-June 28: Income tax returns can be done by telephone
- June 3-28: Income tax returns can be done in person
- June 26: Deadline for those who must pay by direct debit
- June 29: Last day to make an appointment
- June 30: Final deadline to file your income taxes in Spain

To file your income tax returns in person, you must go to your local Tax Office (Agencia Tributaria) between June 3 and 28, 2023. You will have to book an appointment beforehand.
Do your Spanish IRPF tax returns on the phone
To make your income tax declaration by phone, you must call your local Tax Office between May 7 and June 28, 2024 by calling any of the following numbers:

The most popular way to file your income tax declaration in Spain is online on the official Agencia Tributaria tax office website, where you will need a personal digital identification certificate.
