Click HereThe Policía Nacional have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking organization based in Torremolinos, in the province of Málaga, and Águilas, in the south-west of the Region of Murcia, which was smuggling marijuana into other EU countries including Poland, German and Italy.
The drugs acquired by the group were stored at a country property in Águilas and then transported in rented lorries, driven by members of the gang, to their destination. However, as the police net tightened around the operation a truck carrying 94.5 kilos of marijuana was intercepted in July, after which six arrests were made in Málaga and Almería, and then on 17th October another vehicle containing more marijuana was stopped on the AP-7 motorway near Alcoy in the province of Alicante and the driver arrested. It was this arrest which led to a search of the property in Águilas, where 271 kilos of marijuana were confiscated.
In total the operation resulted in the confiscation of 436 kilos of marijuana and 246,510 euros in cash and the arrests of 11 individuals aged between 34 and 50 of Albanian, Italian and Polish nationality. One of the Albanians was wanted for a total of nine previous offences, while a compatriot was the subject of a European detention warrant issued by the authorities in Italy.
