ARCHIVED - First Covid death in the Murcia region for over a month
52 people recovered from the virus on Tuesday
Images; Disinfectant spraying continues across the region in many municipalities as local authorities do their best to contain the virus and make daily living as safe as possible for residents and visitors
On Tuesday the number of new cases reported in the Murcia Region descended to 34, the lowest number for over a week, bringing the overall total down to 1081.
The downward motion on the overall number of active cases was further aided by 52 people moving from the “active cases” list to the “recovered list”, taking that total up to 1,861 of the 3,093 people tested by PCR since the beginning of the crisis.
17 of the new cases notified during the last 24 hours correspond to Murcia city, 5 to Jumilla, 3 to Cartagena and 3 to Torre Pacheco, the remainder in other municipalities, although none with major outbreaks.
Lorca, Totana and Mazarrón which were “in the eye of the storm “last week registered no new cases at all on Monday.
This brings the total number of cases diagnosed to date in the region up to 4.799.
1,018 are in domestic isolation and 62 in hospital, with 8 in intensive care.
Unfortunately the number of fatalities has increased by one following the death of a 90 year old woman in the Rafael Mendéz hospital in Lorca on Tuesday. This is the only death to have occurred in the region since the 1st July when a 98 year old woman who caught the virus from a family member related to the “Bolivian outbreak” died.
The regional health authority continues with an intensive programme of Covid testing; 1,105 OCR tests in the last 24 hours and 56 antibdy tests.
More than 7 million PCR tests have been undertaken in Spain since the pandemic began.
