ARCHIVED - Covid transmission continues to fall: Valencia Update September 13
Whilst the incidence rate has fallen, hospitalisations and new cases have risen slightly in the Valencia region
According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health on Monday September 13, the 14-day cumulative incidence rate in the Valenica region fell 11 points over the weekend, and now stands at 83.34 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
This remains below the national average of 116.13, and that of the neighbouring Region of Murcia (120.30) and Andalucía (101.83).
Despite this, there has been a rise in new cases, with 632 positive cases confirmed compared to 355 reported on Friday, and there has been a slight increase in hospitalisations.
New cases
On Monday September 13, a further 632 Covid cases were reported in Valencia region. This is down from the 952 cases reported a week earlier (September 6) but an increase on the 355 reported on Friday. The new cases take the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 506,394. By province, 74 cases were reported in Castellón (52,493 in total); 280 in Alicante (185,336 in total) and 278 in Valencia (268,563 in total). There are two unassigned cases.
Recoveries
1,195 people recovered from Covid, meaning that to date, 505,793 people in the Valencian region have overcome the virus. Valencia province has seen the most recoveries at 268,814, followed by Alicante at 184,201, and Castellón at 52,721.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 268 people admitted to hospitals in the three provinces, up from 260 on Friday, 63 of whom are being treated in ICUs, which is 3 fewer than on Friday: 43 in the province of Castellón, six in ICU; 111 in the province of Alicante, 32 in ICU; and 114 in the province of Valencia, 25 of them in the ICU.
Fatalities
There have been five reported deaths in the last seven days, the same number of fatalities as on Friday, meaning the total now stands at 7,738 since the beginning of the pandemic: 839 of these fatalities were recorded in Castellón, 2,956 in Alicante and 3,943 in the province of Valencia.
Active cases
According to the latest data, there are currently 4,315 active cases in the community, which represents 0.83 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations
A total of 3,803,766 people have now been fully vaccinated against coronavirus while 4,016,420 have received at least one dose.
Outbreaks
No outbreak with 10 or more associated cases has been recorded.
