Corvera Airport jets through May with an 11 per cent increase in passengers
More than 102,000 travellers passed through the doors of Murcia International Airport last month

Summer has well and truly begun at Corvera Airport, with the terminal inching ever closer to its objective of beating pre-pandemic passenger numbers. The high season looks promising based on May’s figures, which saw 102,673 travellers pass through the doors at the Region of Murcia International Airport – a 10.9% increase on this time last year.
Of the total number of passengers, 102,069 were commercial travellers and the recovery of international traffic in particular stands out, exceeding 2022’s numbers by an impressive 11.1%. On the other hand, domestic flights were down slightly (-1.1%).
Regarding flights, 806 planes touched down or took off from Murcia in May, a 4.4% increase. This trend has been growing all year, since Corvera welcomed no fewer than 270,657 passengers during the first five months, a huge jump of 11.7% compared to the same period of 2022.
During this same five-month stint, the Murcia airport accommodated a whopping 2,232 flights overall, an increase of 4.5%.
This summer, the Region of Murcia International Airport has flight connections with 20 destinations, including nine cities in the United Kingdom and one in Ireland. In addition, airline Volotea has recently announced new domestic routes to Asturias, Santander and Menorca. Throughout the high season, which officially runs until October 30, a total of 875,000 seats will go on sale, which is 3.1% more tickets than 2022.
Ryanair, easyJet, Volotea, Binter and Air Arabia all have bumper schedules for the coming months, with 76 weekly round-trips to seven different countries, once the connection with Brno begins on June 19.
