Coastal properties in the Region of Murcia continue to soar in price
The five most popular municipalities in the Region also command the highest prices

Rising inflation and mortgage interest rates have done nothing to dampen the housing fever sweeping the Region of Murcia, at least in the first 6 months of the year, when demand from property buyers continued without any let-up.
Across the Region, five municipalities stand out: San Javier, Murcia, Mazarrón, Cartagena and Águilas. These, together with Torre Pacheco, were responsible for half of the total property sales and also commanded the highest price per square metre of all available housing.
This is according to the latest data from the Regional Statistics Centre of the Region (CREM), which also highlights the fact that the price of freehold properties in the second quarter shot up by 9.3% compared to the same time last year.
Naturally, the higher the demand, the bigger the price tag sellers can tack on to their houses and nowhere is this more evident than in coastal San Javier, where the price per square metre has risen to 1,283.90 euros. Coming in second in the ranking is regional capital Murcia, where each square metre was going for 1,217.60 euros during April, May and June.
Mazarrón occupies third position, at 1,130.60 euros, although the square metre price actually dropped by around 100 euros compared to the first quarter, but this is also true of the rest of the municipalities.
Fourth place goes to Cartagena, at 1,102.60 euros and Aguilas comes in fifth in the ranking, ducking under the 1,000-euro mark to stand at 989.80 euros per square metre.
Moving down the top 10 most expensive municipality list and we find Molina de Segura next, with 969.60 euros, which actually represents an 11-euro increase.
Next in line, taking seventh place, is Torre Pacheco, at 895.70 euros, a drop of 20 euros, followed by Lorca, with 872.50 euros.
Closing up the rankings is Totana, in ninth place at 845.70 euros and lastly, Cieza, where property costs 818.60 euros per square metre.
