Christmas lights to shine in Cádiz from November 30 with workshops, musicals and festive fun
The city promises its most ecological and spectacular festive season yet with events for all ages
The streets of Cádiz will be bathed in festive cheer from November 30, as the city’s Christmas lights are officially switched on. Promising more lights, sweets, parks and activities than ever, this year’s programme is set to delight both locals and visitors alike.
Highlighting eco-friendly innovation, the dazzling new decorations will cover 100 streets, squares and avenues, reducing energy consumption by 60% while providing 24-hour festive allure. The city council aims to balance sustainability with spectacle, enhancing the economic impact of the holiday season.
The Christmas festivities will feature workshops, musicals, chimes and children’s activities spread across four neighbourhood squares outside the city walls. Each square will host events on December 20, 23, 26 and 27, from 5pm to 8pm, combining themed shows with interactive fun.
Festive workshops and shows
There will be musical shows for children and craft workshops where young participants can make take-home creations. From glitter make-up and Christmas tattoos to painting giant murals and tackling oversized board games, the events will engage imaginations. Artificial snowfall and Christmas characters will complete the magical atmosphere.
New Year’s celebrations for children
The grand finale to Cádiz’s Christmas programme will take place on December 30 in Plaza San Juan de Dios. A musical party featuring beloved children’s characters, dancers and singers will kick off at 6pm, leading into a New Year’s Eve simulation complete with chimes.
To mark the occasion, 2,000 bags containing 12 jellybeans each will be distributed, allowing children to ring in 2025 in their own way. Following the countdown, confetti, cold fire effects, giant balls and snow will create a dazzling display during a musical celebration lasting until 8 p.m.
Cádiz’s 2024 Christmas season promises to be a unique blend of tradition, innovation and fun, especially for young ones.
