ARCHIVED - Blanca and Abarán close river bathing zones to avoid crowding
The River Segura is popular with bathers during the hot summer weather
This does NOT apply to businesses working on river rafting experiences or kayaking excursions
The town halls of both Blanca and Abarán have taken the decision to close the bathing areas normally used by river bathers along the course of the river Segura as it runs down through both municipalities and on into the city of Murcia.
The municipalities explain that this is due to the high numbers of bathers gathering at the popular bathing points on the river and the concern of the councils concerned that too many people are accumulating for bathing to be safe as it is impossible to apply Covid social distancing measures and sanitise the areas concerned.
The situation will be reviewed according to how the pandemic develops.
