ARCHIVED - Three Town Halls in central Murcia request help in combating mosquito plague
Swarms of the insects are inconveniencing residents of Lorquí, Ceutí and Alguazas
The Mayors of the municipalities of Lorquí, Ceutí and Alguazas have all registered requests for help in dealing with the plague of mosquitoes which has affected the area close to the River Segura following the flooding caused in September by the severest gota fría storm in the last 50 years.
On Wednesday the three met José Carlos Vicente, the director of Public Health in the Region of Murcia, to explain the extent of the problem and the nature of the assistance they need in order for life to return to normal in the municipalities they represent. They propose to work together in combating the swarms of insects which have affected the “Vega Media”, intensifying spraying campaigns as the south-east of Spain waits for the natural decrease in the number of mosquitos which comes with colder temperatures.
