ARCHIVED - 60 new positives take active cases in Murcia up to 362
Case numbers in both the Totana and Atalayas outbreaks have risen in the last 24 hours
Image: Ayto-Totana, testing in the municipality; more than 600 tests were carried out in a day of intensive testing.
The two outbreaks of Atalayas in Murcia and Totana now account for 168 cases between them
Covid testing has continued in both the Las Atalayas leisure zone outbreak in Murcia City and Totana, both offshoots of the “Bolivian Outbreak” which has resulted in more than two thirds of the cases in the region being linked predominantly to the young members of the Latino community.
Those who frequented the Pub Dubai in Totana waited patiently yesterday for testing, and the tests checked revealed a further 13 cases, bringing the total for this outbreak up to 98.
Those associated directly with the Atalayas outbreak now account for 70 cases.
7 people from the first batch of irregular migrants who arrived in small boats from the Algeria coastline yesterday have so far tested positive. In total over 430 migrants reached the coast of Murcia as part of a large-scale wave of small boats attempting to enter Spain, and Europe, illegally.
The figures:
Murcia now has 362 active case of Covid.
Last Saturday the total of cases increased to 128 as the testing increased in relation to the Atalayas outbreak, so the total is just 22 short of tripling within a week.
Of the 362 active cases, 344 are in domestic isolation, 18 in hospital, two of whom are inintensive care.
Fatalities remain the same as 151.
Murcia exports Covid to Seville
8 members of the same family have tested positive in the Osuna municipality of Seville after holidaying in the Murcia region according to La Opinión. In total 34 people have been put in quarantine in relation to these cases, 19 of them in Osuna and 15 in other municipalities. No further details have been given about where the family vacationed.
One positive in Nueva Condomina
It has been reported today that shift co-workers of an employee of the Primor outlet in the Nueva Condomina shopping centre in Murcia city have been quarantined after one worker tested positive. The shop has not been closed down as the regional Ministry of Health was satisfied that all co-workers had been tested and sufficient measures taken to sterilise the store.
