Alicante-Southend flights to resume in October

Twice weekly flights to and from Alicante airport throughout the 2023-24 winter season

Earlier this week Southend Airport announced the resumption of flights between the Essex airport and Alicante, and seats are now available online at the easyJet website.

The flights being on October 29 and are scheduled throughout the winter season, operation twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, representing a long-awaited resumption of a service which was well used before the coronavirus pandemic by holiday-makers from east London and East Anglia and by visitors to London from Alicante and Murcia who were keen to avoid the major air traffic hub of London-Stansted.

According to the CEO of London Southend Airport, John Upton, this was the most profitable and popular route for the airport in the past, and the resumption of flights is being seen as a milestone in the airport’s recovery from its pandemic shutdown.

Between 2012 and 2020 easyJet’s Southend-Alicante route was used by over 856,000 passengers, and a further 16,368 seats are available over the 2023-24 winter season.
