ARCHIVED - Alhama Town Hall starts collecting waste tax on Condado urbanisation
Since the Ayuntamiento took over garbage collection last July, they will now tax Condado homeowners for this service

The Taxpayer’s Advice Office of the Ayuntamiento de Alhama de Murcia wishes to inform all owners of properties located on the Condado de Alhama Urbanisation that the Waste Collection Tax is now being collected for those properties subject to this service, corresponding to the period from July 19 to December 31, 2022.
This is due to the fact that this service has been provided by the Town Council since July 19, with the start of the new Waste Collection Service contract signed with the company STV GESTION SL.
Until July 18, 2022, the service to collect garbage was provided by the Community of Owners of the Condado urbanisation, and they were the ones who bore the costs.
Now though, as the local council has taken over this service, and will do so for the next 10 years, they will begin charging taxes to pay for it over the last six months, approximately.

As such, the Treasury Department has proceeded to carry out the following actions:
- Registration of all the properties subject to this tax – in accordance with the data appearing in the Real Estate Cadastre – in the Waste Collection Tax Register in the name of the owner/taxpayer as of July 19, 2022.
- Assignment of the corresponding rate according to the use of each of the properties affected.
- Settlement of the proportional part of the second half of 2022: from July 19 to December 31.
- Notification of the registration on the register/payment letter with the resulting amounts, which must be paid at the Taxpayer Service Offices or at collaborating entities, and can be paid by direct debit for successive periods.
For example, the homes are taxed at an annual rate of €59.00, so for the six-month period for the last half of this year, the amount would be €29.50. In this case the pro-rata tax payable for the period July 19 to December 31, 2022 would be €26.83.
From 2023 onwards, all properties located in Condado de Alhama that are subject to this tax will be taxed in the periodic Waste Collection Tax, with no further individual notification being made, and collection will take place on the dates approved in the tax calendar for each financial year.
