ARCHIVED - Alhama health centre gets 9 new medical professionals
Health Area 1 will have new vacancies for the Alhama Outpatient Clinic
The town of Alhama is to get no fewer than nine new healthcare professionals at its health centre over the next two years, to increase and improve the health service for residents living in the town and on the Condado de Alhama urbanisation.
The Councillor for Health of the Town Council of Alhama de Murcia has revealed that, of the 213 places announced in the strategy document for the improvement of Primary Care for the Region of Murcia, nine of them will be allocated to Alhama in Health Area 1 – Murcia West, to which the municipality belongs.
Specifically, there will be:
- 1 General Practitioner (GP)
- 1 paediatrician
- 3 nurses (one in 2023, one in 2024 and one in 2025)
- 1 physiotherapist
- 1 social worker (in 2024)
- 1 administrative assistant
- 1 midwife (in 2024)
In addition, this year, three nurses (two school nurses and one general nurse) will join the local health team as of July 1.
The General Directorate of Health Care of the Autonomous Community has informed that “it has not yet implemented the maximum of 30 daily consultations for doctors, nor the opening of the Health Centre in the afternoons”, a measure that aims to reduce the delay in waiting lists and that will be voluntary among professionals.
Alhama Councillor Rosa Sánchez has pointed out that “it is necessary to open our Health Centre in the afternoon as there are appointments with a delay of more than seven working days.”
