ARCHIVED - Access to Sierra Espuña Regional Park in Alhama cut off to traffic this week
The temporary road closure at the park in Alhama de Murcia will last until Friday May 27
An impending increase in lorry traffic around Sierra Espuña Regional Park in Alhama de Murcia this week has prompted the temporary closure to vehicles of the main accesses from Tuesday, May 24 until Friday May 27.
The stretch of road that connects the Casa Leyva refuge with Huerta Espuña through the so-called Cuestas del Marqués and La Mezquita bridge within the Sierra Espuña park will be cut off to regular traffic for at least three days.
According to sources from the park, the measures is "for safety reasons due to lorry traffic", and will also affect the forest track leading to Valle de Leyva.
Only residents of the village of El Berro will be permitted to travel on these roads.
