The coronavirus situation of the Region of Murcia continues to slowly improve and the latest figures presented on Tuesday confirm the slow and steady decrease in the number of patients being currently treated for the virus as well as a gradual decrease in the number of new cases being reported.
In the last 24 hours just 161 new cases were diagnosed via PCR test, bringing the total of cases diagnosed to date in the region to 104,330.
Of the new 161 new infections, 39 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 27 to Cieza, 17 to Cartagena, 9 to Lorca, 7 to San Javier, 7 to Totana, 6 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 6 to Yecla, and 5 to Los Alcazares, with the remainder distributed amongst other municipalities in smaller quantities.
3,443 PCR and antigen tests were carried out, so the positivity rate has risen slightly to 4.6%.
Hospitalisations: The number of patients receiving hospital treatment with more severe cases of the virus continues to gradually fall: at the moment there are 500 people admitted to the hospitals across the region with more severe cases of coronavirus, six less than on Sunday (reported on Monday). The number of ICU intensive care patients dropped from 130 to 121. In addition, 3,331 patients are in home isolation after testing positive for coronavirus, but with mild symptoms or asymptomatic cases (but still contagious according to the Ministry).
Fatalities; within the last 24 hour period a further 12 people lost their lives due to Covid-19. The seven women and five men were aged 87, 65, 94, 85, 89, 84, 69, 69, 58, 64, 90 and 86 . Four were from Yecla, another 4 from Cartagena and the remainder from Santomera, Blanca, Ceutí and Los Alcázares.
The total number of fatalities since the pandemic began in March is now 1,351.
Active cases continue to decline notably. In the last hours, 754 people were given the all-clear, so there are currently 3,232 positive cases in the region, a figure which continues to slowly decline.
AI Rate:
The accumulated incidence rate, which measures the number of positive diagnoses per 100,000 of population has now fallen to just 89 over 7 days and 274 over 14 days, situating Murcia once more amongst the lowest rates in the country.
Ulea stands out as the worst-affected municipality with a rate of 1870 over 14 days, followed by Beniel with 600, Yecla with 557, Cieza 551 and Abarán 509; all of the remaining municipalities are below the level of 500 cases per 100,000.
For this reason, mobility between all municipalities except 6 resumes on Wednesday and bars may re-open terraces in 39 of the 45 municipalities of the region.
